I’ve shared a lot this week on the importance of returning to the body. The body responds faster than our minds do to stimulus, and so it only makes sense that we listen to what it’s trying to communicate.
I never knew I was living solely from a stress mode state. It wasn’t until I became a mother that I saw my worst self in her little mirror. Every tantrum she had, I had. Every melt down, I would panic. The thoughts + shame would spiral. I was stuck, scared + confused. I was living my worst fear; failing her + us.
Over the last five years I’ve carved a new path for myself + my babies. It wasn’t one that I had laid before me as a child, but instead one I had to imagine + step towards. It’s been messy, scary, yet incredibly liberating. We are doing it. So can you.
Everyone wants to know if this is really how it works. Truth is, yes. We rewire through repetition. Synapses (little roads) in the brain break down the less we use them. The more we use new roads, the more familiar + less resistant they become. It’s often the simple shifts that feel the hardest, but over time yield the grandest results.
You don’t have to parent the way you were parented. You have the power within to give what you never received.
We want to (but can’t) think our way into a higher self. We must feel it first. It begins with becoming aware, pausing, returning to the body, breathing, and responding from a place of safety. Only then can we pave new paths for generations to come. Here we begin to align ourselves with who we truly are + not who our conditioning tells us we are. ❤️
