A little back story, for as long as I can remember, I struggled with drugs and alcohol, and I was VERY good at hiding it. I threw myself into every available activity; from athletics, to student government, to academics and even church. I volunteered and mentored, and excelled at most. I did whatever I could to cover up the shame, stay busy, and deny the pain. I enjoyed boozing and using and did it often in isolation, making sure the outside always looked perfect (or so I thought). I loved to escape, not deal, and towards the end, believed I had no way out. Until one morning, my husband found me in bed (alone), drinking whiskey out of a coffee mug, in my pajamas. And a decision had to be made- was I to get clean, enjoy my life, my marriage, my future? I didn’t know how to love myself, to give of myself, to BE myself. But I wanted that, more than anything. And so that’s what I did, with the help of my superstar husband, who has always seen more in me than I ever could, and thus, made a choice to show up here in this life.
By the grace of God, I am now almost a decade sober. In early sobriety, I stumbled across codependency and began the work to establish a healthy boundary practice in my own life. I returned to school, and graduated with Honors from the University of Florida with a degree in Psychology. I am now actively pursuing my Masters in Divinity at Liberty University, while raising my four young children in South Florida and writing my first book (releasing winter 2023!) I love Jesus, leopard and chocolate. In 2020, after years of 1:1 mentoring, I felt led to launch a resource for more women to access this content whenever they needed it. I founded Discover Your Worth, an online membership where you can join to learn, connect and be held accountable. My passion is reminding women from all backgrounds and experiences that they are worthy and capable of creating a life they are proud of.
If you want to stay connected, be sure to sign up for my weekly email or check out my social media where I share quick tips of encouragement and insight. If you would like to discuss having me at your next conference, church or school event as a speaker, send an invitation and someone from our team will be in touch.
I am so glad you are here.
