We have limited resources: time, emotional energy, finances. It’s important to delegate these resources with intention.
It’s amazing to be a “helper.” I am one too. However I heard a sermon a few years ago that shook me to my core. I was helping all the time because I needed a role, I needed to be needed, I wanted to feel important. I’ve learned since that It’s my responsibility to slow down and ask my Creator, “is this where you are leading me to help?” And then I wait for confirmation. Sometimes, I’m not meant to. And that’s okay.
Where I need to help will look different than where you need to help. That’s part of the plan. Our help can be better dispersed.
Helping everyone, everywhere, all the time— isn’t actually helpful.
Slow down. Pause. Take some time to confirm if where you’re helping is actually where you need to be helping. Or is it what YOU need to feel better in the moment?
