We recently connected with Courtney Burg and have shared our conversation below.
Courtney, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My mission began long before I realized it had started. I was completely depleted and in denial that I was living codependent in my relationships. Not only did I not know who I was, I was giving of myself until there was nothing left to give- then blaming others for my continued unhappiness.
Discover Your Worth is a membership I created after discovering boundaries and healing from codependency myself. I wanted to share resources with other women, and when I couldn’t find anything packaged and easily digestible out there available, I created it. In order to get better AT our relationships, we have to be IN relationships. This space is safe, and allows women to do just that.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am the founder of Discover Your Worth, an online membership for women. I have been married to my best friend for almost ten years, and we live together with our four young children in South Florida. I have my undergrad degree in Psychology from the University of Florida, which is where I first fell in love with brain science and patterns of behavior. I am currently getting my Masters at Wheaton college, and am the author of Loyal to a Fault: How to Establish New Patterns When Loving Others Has Left You Hurting which is available where ever books are sold.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Both James Clear’s and Craig Groeschel’s resources have been monumental in forming systems, habits and routines in my life. Implementing a leadership mindset and complimentary rhythms has been key to avoiding burnout, and making space to truly enjoy what I do as both a mother, and business owner.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building social media for me has always been very intentional. A few years ago God asked me to write the book Loyal to a Fault, and I knew that in order to steward its message well, I would have to do my part in positioning myself in front of potential readers, which are now mainly on the internet! I am fortunate to have two incredible people on my team who help me design and deliver content authentically, efficiently and consistently which has really helped grow my audience.
