Howdy friends! It has been a while since I have shared anything personal lately, perhaps because the book has taken up the majority of my time (outside of my family.) Inside this post I will be sharing my recent trip to Nashville, along with a free devotional I created for you!
It’s hard even for me to believe that this time two years ago I signed my very first book deal with an imprint of Thomas Nelson. Up until last week, all of the work I did with editing, marketing and publishing had happened remotely. But last week I was finally able to meet the W publishing team in person! I can’t tell you how special it was to sit down and enjoy a delicious meal, lots of laughs, and my gratitude for all the hard work and dedication they poured into bringing LTAF into the world.
I also caught up with my long time friend Maddie who interviewed me for season 2 of her In Joy Life podcast, which is part of the Family Made media network. It was really cool to sit down with her in person and chat about assertive communication, why boundaries get a bad reputation, and what is bringing me JOY in this season. Our episode is scheduled to air next week!
I was able to have some incredible BBQ with a friend from Wheaton who lives in Nashville (Carre), and to grab a coffee with a new friend (Stephanie) who recently had me on her Girls Night podcast. I feel really grateful to have women like these ones in my life; we share more than just food and caffeine—we exchange encouragement, inspiration, and support too!
When I got home I felt so filled up. And for someone who has worked primarily online for the past decade, it is nice to be getting out and connecting in real life again. It isn’t just about networking for me, it’s about establishing real community and relationships. And while I couldn’t wait to get home and snuggle my four little ones, I will admit it felt really good to have some time away, to be driven around (thanks uber and friends!), to not have to share meals with squirmy toddlers, and to enjoy some adult conversations.
Oh and for the freebie: I am delighted to share that I wrote a devotional for YouVersion called 5 Days to A Value Driven Life. If you aren’t sure how to set boundaries just yet, then identifying your core values is a great place to start. If you start the devotional, would you let me know? I would love to encourage you along the way.
Devotional Reading Plan
Core values are the foundation of life—shaping your thoughts, emotions, and actions. If you don’t know your values, you risk acquiring others’ beliefs and behaviors. Identify your core values, and take steps towards fostering healthy habits that reflect your new identity in Christ. Begin to positively impact others, and write a purposeful legacy in this five-day reading plan adapted from my book, Loyal to a Fault.
Just for fun: For those who follow me on social media, you probably remember me raving about my new recent obsession. This under eye concealer has been a game changer for me!
One last thing: if you are local please consider joining me as I host the very first book study of LTAF. It starts next Monday Feb. 5th and will run for about 6 weeks at my home church. Simply respond to this email for the sign up link and to receive more detailed information.
