If you were lucky enough, those parents of yours pointed you to the One whose love never runs low, never falls short + endures all things.
Unfortunately however, many of you didn’t learn about love from your parents. You perhaps learned of unkept promises, betrayal + heartache instead. You may even believe today, that you aren’t lovable because they themselves couldn’t love you.
I want to share with you something.
There is nothing wrong with you.
Please read that again.
Instead what is wrong is that we live in a world that is flooded with addiction + distraction + temptation + pain. And often the addictions + distractions + temptations + past pains are what keep parents from showering their children with the love they deserve.
It doesn’t make it right.
The good news is you don’t have to fear getting married or becoming a parent because you yourself weren’t loved or parented the way you needed. You can learn to give what you didn’t get. You can build what wasn’t built. You can imagine + create something beautiful, something new. This I know. This I’ve done (am doing).
Remember where the highest, purest, never ending love comes from. THAT is where you get your playbook.
Just because they didn’t know how to love you, doesn’t mean you aren’t love-able.
You are cherished.
Then, now + always.
