I teach often on Boundaries on Self and this is why.
Many have grown so accustomed to living in pain, dysfunction, chaotic environments, that it became the norm. Its not just the subconscious, it’s physical. Our bodies crave it.
To move away from that and into healing feels then, uncomfortable. Foreign.
Instead of leaning into the discomfort, many choose to create the same chaos they call home. This involves self sabotage, inflicting pain and creating drama where there is none. It’s addictive. It’s comforting. It soothes the confusion when the world gets too quiet, too predictable. It involves much self harm. Shame. Regret. Repetition.
A major turning point in healing is noticing when you are extinguishing your joy or dismissing security. Power is found when you acknowledge the patterns that are holding you captive, the ones that draw you back to your old ways, old people, old pain.
In any moment you can take responsibility and rewrite your next chapter. Yes, for years many may have tried to bury you beneath their unhealed wounds… but today you can choose to put down the shovel that you’ve been using to continue this familiar entombing. Let yourself and those after you see + feel the light ✨
