If you have been doing boundary work for some time now, you may need to reevaluate.
Many of the women I work with get so excited about setting healthy boundaries, that this once safe framework slowly becomes a cage. The freedom, peace and confidence it once provided them is now feeling self punitive and suffocating.
This is why its important to reflect often.
Some questions to help you are:
- Am I afraid to go off schedule?
- Am I enjoying my daily routine or stressing over it?
- Do I get irritable if someone gives me feedback?
- Do I get feel more like I am defending my life or enjoying it?
Remember, your systems, habits, routines, and frameworks work for you; you don’t work for them.
Notice when you need to pull back, rework, adjust, or pivot. This is life and both breathing and grace are essential.
Boundaries are always important, but it seems that this time of year many women allow them to be stretched or broken completely. The holidays are an even more important time to maintain the healthy boundaries you’ve worked so hard to establish. Don’t let this time of year wear you down through overcommitment, people pleasing, perfectionism, and performing. If you need help, consider becoming a member of Discover Your Worth.
